Mastectomy

Mastectomy is the surgical removal of the breast tissue and lymph nodes. This surgery is usually completed for patients that have breast cancer but may be done prophylactically for patients who are carriers for the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes. This procedure may be combined with reconstruction if desired.
